Course Description

This A' Level Business Studies Course is ideal for anyone wishing to gain a knowledge and understanding of this subject or for anyone who wishes to study at a higher level at University and gain UCAS points. You will also find this course extremely valuable if you are looking for a progression route for further training whilst employed.

This A' Level Business Studies course forms part of the new linear qualifications. This means that students will sit exams for their particular qualification at the end of the completed course in the June series.

AS levels will become decoupled from A' Levels; this means that they will both become entirely separate qualifications. You will no longer be able to carry forward your AS qualification to the A' Level qualification and you will sit either AS or A' Level exams.

What can you do with A' Level Business

The skills you gain from A' Level Business will allow you to go into Industries as diverse as chemicals, utilities, fashion, health, grocery and construction. All these require managers with a clear understanding of systems, efficiency and operational issues.

If you are looking to progress onto University, students in the past have taken subjects in marketing, finance, human resources, computing/ICT and international business management.

Alternatively, you might have ambitous plans to start your own business!

Modules

AS Level

Papers 1 and 2 will cover the following content:-
What is business? 
Managers, leadership and decision making 
Decision making to improve marketing performance 
Decision making to improve operational performance 
Decision making to improve financial performance 
Decision making to improve human resource performance 
 
AS level consists of two 1 hour 30 minute examinations each totalling 50% of the overall AS Level grade.

Full A' Level

Analysing the strategic position of a business

There are three exams at the end of the two years for A-level, all of which are two hours long.

There are no previous entry requirements for this course, however students are expected to have a reasonable standard of literacy. You have the freedom to start the course at any time and continue your studies at your own pace for a period of up to 24 months from initial registration with the full support of your Tutor.

Once you’ve started your tutor will mark and provide feedback on your assignments and support your progress throughout the course.

Assessment
Students will be required to arrange and pay for their examinations at an AQA approved centre. We can provide an extensive list of these centres for you
