Course Description

The Advanced Project Management certificate professional development course provides attendees with a concise overview of how to manage projects. The course starts with an explanation of what is project management and the challenges projects face. The course ensures that attendees have a solid understanding of the terminology of project management and the importance of clear objectives and alignment with organisational needs. You will explore the following areas during your training: issues in project management, risk management, strategic planning, project management objectives and scope, cost and financial issues: NPV; ROI, payback analysis, Prince2, project execution and project closure

The course further ensures that attendees gain a clear and logical overview of the critical sequences involved (pre-project, scope, planning, risk, deliverables and teams) and the importance of cross project dependencies. Project risk management is a central theme as well as issues such as stakeholder management and ethics. Critical path analysis is looked at in depth as well as finance and critical chain scheduling. Prince2 is used as an example of project management software. The handover process is examined and a summary of lessons learnt from a variety of examples of projects.
