About Business Analyst Training program

Business Analysis Training programme of EduCBA is intended to provide an overview for beginners to understand what is Business Analysis and business systems and how it is implemented in organizations that require change.  The course gives an awareness of business systems and development of solutions, and how it benefits organisations. It is organized into three modules containing over seven lectures and more than one hour High Definition Video (HD).

 Introduction to Systems:

Success of a business depends on how well it is organized. In sole proprietary systems all the major tasks, process and decisions may be controlled by the owner itself. As the business grows, it will not be sufficient as business should run even in the promoter’s absence for a few days. That is why having a system is vital for growth of any organization. Without proper systems and procedures, the entire operation, decision making, day-to-day activities and marketing of products could suffer and impact profitability in the long run.

This module helps you to understand how a system is created in a company, what all processes are documented and how various roles are defined for the various day-to-day activities.

Topics: What is a business or management information system, the need for business systems, business processes, procedures, rules and regulations, operations and managing tasks.

Elements and types of systems:

This module will give you an overview of different types of business systems and their relevance in an organization.

The basic elements of a system are input, process, control and output. In the context of a company, input could be intellectual capital, raw materials or even data. The output could be a finished product, a service, or analytical reports.

Other elements– All the processes that are required to convert input to output is called processes or processing.  In IT systems, the output is checked for quality and whether proper standards were followed to achieve the result. This is called Feedback which is fed back into the system to make changes to input and processes.

Boundaries are limits set by system to ensure co-ordinated activity of business. The Environment is that area outside the system that determines the need for a system. Change in environment will have impact on the working of the system.  Any system involves interface between agents and networks – access to interfaces are achieved through control and delegation.

There are different types of business systems with each interacting with one or more systems depending on its kind and nature. This module will give you an awareness of different types of systems-

How does business analysis benefit an organization?

Business analysis helps reduce cost of projects and hence costs incurred in creating a solution or process is more than made up by value created by the company although it may lead to increased initial costs. It can be applied for business organisations that run on profit or for governmental, non-profit organisations.

When should an organization start doing business analysis?

Business analysis should start from day one in any organization by documenting the daily routines and procedures required for running the business. A small businessman needs to juggle different functions and do all the leg work. Therefore, even for small businesses having a system is the first step in its growth process.  Once all the processes are documented, business analysts can be consulted for implementing a system in the organization. Having all decisions and procedures done by a single person can seriously impact the working and growth of any organization.

Do I need technical skills to succeed in BA or programming skills?

Not necessarily. Lot of Business Analysts jobs may require technical skills such as database management, networking, programming or writing code. But there are as many jobs that do not require technical skills or writing a code. However , for BA jobs, it is better to have an understanding of software, server architecture, tools used in improving IT efficiency among others. What is more important is not technical skill but a broad understanding of how IT works in organisations. Some BA jobs require the candidate to understand technical concepts but need not implement them. Some others may specify, for eg. MySQL skills, Java, networking protocols etc.

What are the prospects for growth in BA career?

After an initial reluctance many companies are willing to look at Business Analysis positively in view of the positive returns on investment (ROI). This improves the prospects for those certified in BA to further progress in their career. Therefore, getting trained in the technical and managerial side of BA would help them grow fast in their careers and witness income growth.

Most importantly, more than training or domain skills, it is the passion to learn that will help experts in various areas such as technical writing, quality assurance, software development, networking to come up in business analysis career.  There are several examples of such professionals demonstrating capability on the job and then going ahead with formal learning.
